Sean Kiser drives a '06 Cummins Quad-Cab he bought brand new. But his truck has come a long way since then. Even though he doesn't race with it all the time - he did make one run and finished in the 10's at 127 mph with a calculated rwhp of over 900. Join Paul Wison and Danny Voss as they talk to Sean about his truck and the addictive passion of diesel power.

Paul Wilson hitches a ride in a freshly tuned 2.8L Duramax Canyon and becomes a believer. This is not your typical small truck - this is a real diesel with enough towing capacity to haul a car trailer or whatever. Nick Priegnitz, Owner-Founder of Duramaxtuner.COM, talks about the V4 Duramax and its tuning potential - both for the engine control module (ECM) and transmission control module (TCM). The entire podcast takes place behind the wheel with Paul reacting as each new tune is loaded. The small, kinda dead stock tuned truck turns into an energetic joy to drive. Duramaxtuner.COM's Nick Priegnitz is convinced the 2.8L Duramax platform is here to stay and has an awesome future in the diesel performance aftermarket.

Katie Pajestka knows burnouts! Paul and Danny ask Katie how she got started in diesel - you may be surprised by the answer! She describes what it took to get from a bone stock, old-guy truck to the tire shredding machine she owns today. The truck goes to the track when the weather improves - but Paul thinks he knows what Katie's truck will run and Danny disagrees. It's a lively discussion with plenty of good times.

Daniel McEwen's diesel addiction began with a Cummins and now includes a Duramax LML. In this episode of the DPP Truck Advisor, Daniel explains the mods and other things he's done to build a drag racer and how he's done it.

Paul and Danny host two of the country's best diesel performance experts to talk about the latest in twin and triple turbo set-ups. Nick Priegnitz, owner-founder of Calibrated Power Solutions, home of Duramaxtuner.COM, stops by along with Jason Wehrli, owner-founder of Wehrli Custom Fab. The crew goes into detail about what's involved in twin and triple turbo systems and what considerations a truck owner needs to consider before adopting the set-up for their own truck. The show also goes into various scenarios with Nick and Jason making recommendations. We think ALL of our shows are great - but we're really proud of this one - we hope you agree.

Paul and Danny talk about a topic they know a lot about - EFILive, the tuning software used to develop calibrations for the Duramax, Cummins and a variety of gas engines. Both guys spend all day, every day, talking about EFILive because that's the underlying tool used by Calibrated Power Solutions. In this episode, they explore in-depth, what the software does and does not do. They also explain the difference between EFILive and a box tuner and the older method for tuning - an ECM chip.

Suncoast Performance's Dallas Penn visits to give Paul and Danny some insight on Powerstroke transmissions. Not all decisions relate to horsepower, according to Dallas. He likes to consider the use of the truck as well. Big horsepower and big torque require billet shafts - that's where the Powerstroke transmission build starts. Dallas says there's a revival in the popularity of the 4R100. The entire show goes into a lot of detail about all Ford transmissions and what owners need to know to get the most from their Blue Oval in every application - daily driver to performance.

Feb 16, 2016

Sled puller Lee Stiltz drops by the podcast to explain his addiction for the motorsport.

Feb 12, 2016

This is a head-on discussion about deleting emissions equipment on 2010-2015 Cummins Turbo Diesel trucks and WHY you may not want to. Paul Wilson and Danny Voss visit the podcast sponsor and owner-founder of Calibrated Power Solutions, Nick Priegnitz. CPS sells CME (2010-2015) Cummins Turbo Diesel calibrations that hit 500 rwhp with emissions control equipment intact. Along with the engine tuning, CPS offers transmission tuning. The podcast challenges industry beliefs about the need for deleting emissions equipment.

Feb 9, 2016

Dwight Kroon of Manassas, Virginia visits to talk about his '06 Cummins and how he's taken it from stock to badass. The truck goes by the name of Street Sleeper and for good reason. Dwight says it looks like a truck a grandpa would drive. Despite appearances, Street Sleeper probably hits in the low 900s. Paul, Danny and Dwight also talk about bracket racing and how there's a difference between the horsepower goals in the Midwest compared to the East Coast.

Feb 8, 2016

PSP Diesel's Art Martinez stops by to offer turbo advice to Blue Oval owners. Art also consults with host Paul Wilson about his 1995 7.3 gear jammer and what it doesn't have any fortitude!

The conversation covers every engine type - LB7, LLY, LBZ, LMM and everyone's favorite - the LML, and describes the various options, from tune-only power to bolt-ons, including intakes and exhaust systems. Bob goes into detail on some of the pros and cons of each engine. He also explains the meaning of driveability and why it's more important than a specific horsepower number, like 1,000hp.

The DPP team talks to diesel enthusiast Ryan Karbaum about his truck, 2005 Cummins 3500 with 390,000 miles. Like every diesel owner, Ryan likes to tell the story behind his truck and how his father handed it down to him when he turned 16. Flash forward a few years and we learn what Ryan did to the truck to feed his diesel addiction. DPP hosts Paul Wilson and Danny Voss ask questions and offer advice. In the end, we learn a lot about one truck and how a passion continues to keep it on the road - exactly the kind of story we like to hear at the Diesel Performance Podcast!

Chris Ehmke of Calibrated Power describes each generation of Cummins engine and explains the differences between them and what you need to make power. The various recipes require a level of knowledge not obvious because the generations of Cummins diesel engines date from the early 1990s to 2016. Chris goes through every generation and gives us a good reason why owners say they drive a Cummins instead of a Dodge.

Find a used, light duty diesel pickup - spend 15K on mods and get it below 13 seconds in the quarter-mile. That's the focus of what we call our budget build episode featuring a lively discussion between a trio of diesel heads: Pete "Shibby" Przybysz (Powerstroke), Chris Ehmke (Cummins), and Paul Wilson (Duramax). The group discusses how they would spend 15K on their build, explaining the logic behind their decisions, which the other participants cannot understand or agree. In the end, former DPP moderator Scott Henricks picks a "winner" and pisses everyone off.

What happens when you bolt together various parts of one truck with another? The results may vary, but it's sure a lot of fun to see it all come together and work. Or maybe it doesn't work and another "Frankenbuild" or "swap" bites the dust and gets parked with a tarp over it.

In this episode, Paul Wilson and Scott Henricks talk swaps with a trio of owners: Eric Swanson of Duraburb - a company that specializes in the installation of the Duramax drivetrain into a Suburban. Then Nick Priegnitz of Duramaxtuner.COM talks about the ApacheMAX, a 1958 Apache bolted to the frame of a 2003 2500HD. Tony Zuccarell of Elgin, Ilinois talks about dropping a Cummins into the body of a Ford Expedition.

Sit back and enjoy - and maybe you'll be inspired to do your own Frankenbuild or not.
